I started this review of The Daily Mirror's Value Scope racing tipster on 01 December 2007 as a record of the results of an average person in the street.

Due to the consistent results Valuescope has been achieving , by the time your paper gets delivered the suggested price is likely to have dropped. So I will post Valuescopes tips each Saturday morning as early as possible (think of me when it's freezing cold and snowing trudging down to the newsagents)

I will also post the results, the prices I was actually able to get, and my profit / loss on a weekly and cumulative basis.

Hi Dobbin,

You are doing a good job but for your efforts of getting out of bed and getting the paper early morning you do not seem to be getting the best available early morning price (Before 9 AM) for yourself.

I suggest that you have an online account with Ladbrokes as their early morning prices (Before 9 AM) are always much better than the odds you are currently getting for yourself (assuming that you are putting your hard earned money on this experiment).

Today you could have got Mr Ed @ 28/1 and Strong Resolve @ 33/1 from Ladbrokes online before 9.30 AM when they slashed their prices.

Best of luck and keep up your good work.

With a lot of luck for Value Scope and some better prices for yourself you could and I hope that you do see the year out in profit :-)

Hi - good site and some interesting results. Just wondering why you are having so much trouble acheiving advised prices. I play to half decent stakes and have no trouble getting on when all the bookies bring their prices online at 08:30 on a Saturday. The high street firms will also guarantee their prices for the first 15 minutes of opening.

Hopefully the losing run will end next week but it is to be expected when we are playing at such big prices.

Hi Both Anonymous, (I'm not sure what the plural is :-))

Thanks for your comments, I'm glad the site is helpful.

I have tried to keep the info as basic as possible and intentionally don't give any opinion on the selections - the site is purely about the profitability of Value Scope.

As for the prices - well as I said this is an experiment to see what the average guy can achieve, rather than the professional punter who devotes loads of time and has multiple accounts. I have 2 online accounts and pick the best prices from these. These 2 bookmakers normally post their prices by 07.30 so I'm not getting caught out by falling prices.

There are comments each week in various racing forums that people have not been able to achieve the suggested prices and even the odds you quote are quite a bit lower than those suggested. It will be intersting to see what affect this has when we get a few winners.
