I started this review of The Daily Mirror's Value Scope racing tipster on 01 December 2007 as a record of the results of an average person in the street.

Due to the consistent results Valuescope has been achieving , by the time your paper gets delivered the suggested price is likely to have dropped. So I will post Valuescopes tips each Saturday morning as early as possible (think of me when it's freezing cold and snowing trudging down to the newsagents)

I will also post the results, the prices I was actually able to get, and my profit / loss on a weekly and cumulative basis.

i think u will find that on week 2 if you use say £10 as 1 point u will be £15 in profit as u will get 2 x 7-4 plus your stake which is £55 and u will lose £40 on the other horse, just felt the need to point this out as i am looking at value scope at the moment in the hope of making a few quid, good idea though.

Hi Dude

You cant count the stake on the winner as profit.

So your actual profit is 2 x £10 @ 7/4 = £35
Less your £40 loss on the other horse = £5 loss

or another way to look at it:

You've laid out 6 points (£60 in your example).
Your've got a return of 5.5 points (£55 in your example).
So it's actually a 0.5 point loss (£5).

Good luck this week
